Moms in Motion

The Club at St. Dominic’s offers a structured water fitness class that helps maintain cardio, respiratory and muscular fitness throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period. Must be at least 12 weeks into pregnancy and have a signed medical release from a physician. Call (601) 200-4925 for details. Cost: $64/month or free for mothers delivering at St. Dominic’s.
Class meets every Monday and Wednesday from 5:30—6:30 p.m.

Breastfeeding Class

This class includes the advantages of breastfeeding for mother and baby, prenatal preparation, keys to successful breastfeeding and expressing and storing breast milk. Free for mothers who are delivering at St. Dominic’s. Thursday and Saturday classes are available. Pre-registration for this class is required. Call (601) 200-6934

Brothers and Sisters-To-Be

St. Dominic’s will offer a special class for children ages 3-8 who are expecting a new baby in their family. Emphasis is given to the sibling’s new role as a big brother or big sister. Call (601) 200-6934 for details or to register. Pre-registration for this class is required. If you are pre-registered at St. Dominic’s, this class is FREE.


A one-night class for expectant or new fathers which offers personal, first-hand tips from a new dad and advice on how to help mom. Call (601) 200-6934 to register. Pre-registration for this class is required.

Prepared Childbirth Class

St. Dominic’s offers a class that covers everything you need to know before, during and after your baby’s birth during a four-week course. Topics include the physical changes of pregnancy, signs and stages of labor, relaxation and breathing and some helpful tips for newborn care. The class also answers questions about delivery, hospital procedures and anesthesia. Dinner and a tour of the Maternal and Newborn Center is included. Weekend classes and/or online courses are also available. Pre-registration for this class is required. Call (601) 200-6934 to register. Cost: $40 per couple.

eLearning Online Course

As an alternative for parents who cannot attend our conventional prepared childbirth class due to bed rest, scheduling conflicts or time constraints, we offer an interactive, web-based program that includes animated illustrations, videos, voiceovers and interactive games. After registering for this class you will receive a code to enter the eLearning program. The code will be good for 84 days starting from the time you first log-on. > View Online Course | Cost: $40

Baby Basics

Basic infant care, including holding, diapering, feeding and bathing, are some of the topics covered. Common parental concerns during the first few months are also addressed. This class is also excellent for expecting grandparents or adoptive parents. If you are pre-registered at St. Dominic Hospital this class is free. Pre-registration for this class is required. Infant CPR Class

This is a one-session class held twice monthly at St. Dominic’s. It teaches injury prevention and the correct CPR techniques for infants. The class is a must for parents or anyone taking care of your baby. Pre-registration required. To register, call 601-200-3934. This class is free for mothers delivering at St. Dominic’s.

Working Through Labor Pain Class

This class offers comfort techniques and tools for coping through labor pain for expecting mothers. Pre-registration required for this class. To register, call 601-200-3934. This class is FREE for mothers delivering at St. Dominic’s.

Ballroom Dance

Learn the Mambo, Foxtrot, Cha-Cha, Rhumba, Waltz, Two-Step and Swing at this class sponsored by New Directions for Over 55. Invite a partner or come alone. Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m., St. Dominic’s Centre Building located at 3800 I-55 North Frontage Road. Call (601) 200-6698. FREE for New Directions for Over 55 members.

Prime Timers Enrichment Series

St. Catherine’s Village in Madison hosts a series of lectures each month from 10:30 a.m. -11:15 a.m. at the Village. These lectures cover topics of interest to senior adults. Call (601) 856-0100 for program details. FREE.

AARP Mature Driving Class

Classroom refresher for motorist age 50 and older.  This course will renew your driving knowledge and may help you receive a discount on your auto insurance.  Cost:  $15 for AARP members/$20 for non-AARP members. Call New Directions for Over 55 at (601) 200-6698 to register.

Private and Group Swimming Lessons

Women’s Heart Support Group

St. Dominic’s offers a support group meeting for women diagnosed with heart disease. Meets the second Tuesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at St. Dominic’s. Call (601) 200-3110. FREE.

Caregivers Support Group

St. Dominic’s offers a monthly support group for caregivers of St. Dominic patients and caregivers in the community. This group meets the second Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. in St. Dominic’s Conference Rooms. For more information, call Teresa Williams at (601) 200-6768. FREE.

Ostomy Support Group

For individuals with colostomy, ileostomy or urinary diversion. Held the third Sunday of each month at 3 p.m. in St. Dominic’s Conference Rooms. For details, call (601) 956-8521. FREE.

Stroke Support Group

City-Wide Stroke Connection is a monthly stroke survivor, family member and caregiver support group sponsored by St. Dominic’s, Baptist Health Systems, University of Mississippi Medical Center, and Methodist Rehabilitation Center. Meets the first Friday of each month at Methodist Specialty Care Center (One Layfair Drive Suite 500, Flowood, MS). Topics and guest speakers will vary. For more information, call (601) 936-8888.

Brain Injury Support Group

The Mississippi Brain Injury Association hosts a monthly support group for patients and families dealing with brain injuries. Meets the fourth Monday of each month (July 23) at 7 p.m. at St. Dominic’s. For more information, call (601) 981-1021. FREE.

West Nile Virus Support Group

St. Dominic’s hosts a support group with the Mississippi State Department of Health for patients and family members dealing with the complications from West Nile Virus. Held the last Friday of each month at 1 p.m. at St. Dominic’s Behavioral Health Associates/North Campus. Call (601) 200-3110. FREE.

Huntington’s Disease Support Group

Local support group meeting for Huntington’s patients and family members. Meets the second Saturday of each month at 2 p.m. Meetings are held in Conference Rooms 1 and 2 located on the lower level of St. Dominic Hospital.
